Laura Rose Komada was born in Seattle and pursued visual fine arts with particular attention to painting and printmaking. She spent three years in Japan, an experience that continues to inform her perspective. Her path has moved through teaching, design, publishing, and gallery work, with experience in web and book design, art sales, digital media, and marketing.
Her practice turns toward painting, drawing, printmaking, and writing. These pursuits offer a way to move through turbulent sociopolitical times, where working slowly and with care brings solace, joy, and discovery. Her work opens a space for aesthetic searching, exploring metaphor, and translating thought into color, shape, and line as a way of reaching for meaning and connection.
Her creative philosophy rests in listening, making, and seeking with intention. She treats these acts as vital and sustaining, and views her artistic journey as an ongoing process of growth. Dialogue with others and an attunement to her own voice serve as pathways to new ways of seeing.
